Biography
Nelson Nhamutole is a young scientist working as a chief of the Palaeontological Laboratory in Mozambique (National Museum of Geology). In his research Nelson uses dispersed organic matter to infer past depositional environments, age of stratigraphic sequences, thermal maturity, and hydrocarbon potential of the Karoo aged Maniamba Basin in Mozambique. In order to accomplish his research Nelson uses multiproxy techniques such as palynology, palynofacies, organic petrography, organic geochemistry (Pyrolysis Rock Eval-TOC), and petroleum geochemistry (biomarkers).
Disciplines
Palynology (Stratigraphy), Palynofacies, Organic Geochemistry, Geology, Petroleum Geochemistry, Palaeobotany, Geoheritage, Geoconservation, Organic Petrography, Palaeoecology and Paleoclimates.
Fields of study
My research focus is Palaeobotany with particular emphasis to the study of silicified woods from Permian and Triassic formations in Mozambique.
