Biography

My research focuses on studying the abundant coprolite collection from Driefontein Farm 11. By identifying the coprolite morphotypes and their associated biological inclusions my long-term goal is to reconstruct trophic interactions in this Early Triassic ecosystem. My passion stems from my love of nature and a keen desire to understand ancient ecosystems.

Disciplines

Fields of study

Driefontein Farm 11 is an Early Triassic site from the eastern Free State Province of South Africa, a period which is still poorly understood. The site has yielded an abundance of microvertebrate material, increasing the number of taxa known from this period significantly. Study of these taxa will provide insight into how taxa recovered from the Permo-Triassic extinction, the Earths worst extinction event.
